Born Caistor, Lincs, 1895. SSon of John Thomas and Kate Spalding, of Sycamore House, Caistor, Lincs (CWGC address). He had one brother, John and two sisters, Theresa and Kate. Worked as a Grocer’s Assistant. 5 foot 6 inches tall, 144 lbs weight, 37-39 ” chest, Good Physical development.
Enlisted Hull 10/12/1915. Posted to France, on 6th May 1916. Served with the 8th East Yorkshires. Killed in action, on 21/07/1916, aged 21. Commemorated on the Thiepval memorial, France.
