Born Hull 1876. Son of William Whittle & Kate (Blakey), 24 Williamson Street, Hedon Road and 23 Pelham Street. Wife Eliza Whittle lived at the above address & at 5 Edward Terrace, Holmes Street, Fountain Road. A Labourer, by trade. He enlisted in Hull. Wounded in the head by a bullet at Lille, in October 1914. He died at home, on 23/10/1919, aged 43. Buried Hull Northern Cemetery.
While in hospital at Boulongne, he wrote a letter to his mother, which was printed in the Hull and Lincolnshire Times on 31/10/1914.
